Tea Party Tucson
My buddy and I went to the Tea Party here in my hometown of Tucson, Arizona. It was exciting to see that many people who cared about what the federal government is doing with our hard earned tax dollars. I would estimate that there was at least over 1,000 people there. The video speaks for itself really. I hope this day will help jump-start a new movement to take back our government, and end the bailouts, tax hikes, pork barrel spending and the overall lack of accountability in Washington. President Obama, the Democrats and the Republicans have no right to spend our money like they see fit! Its our money! I urge everyone to get educated about whats going on in the communities and make a difference in your local political scene. Run for office or support a candidate that represents your values and hold them to it! If we do this we will have a change that we can believe in.

Are you sure all those people weren’t just upset at the fact that they live in Tucson?
hey man tucson isn’t that bad! lol there was an estimated 3800-4000 people there! not a bad turnout down here in liberal tucson!
AZ,
?? Ostensibly we live in a representative democratic republic, and as you know I hate both parties and I’m not very fond of the president… But when you say “President Obama, the Democrats and the Republicans have no right to spend our money like they see fit! Its our money! “ I just can’t understand what you mean… Spending our money is their job, if you disapprove of how it’s spent that’s one thing but that they are our “representatives” does in fact make it their prerogative, doesn’t it? What should they do take a poll before they vote for any given item in the budget to make sure they have sufficient approval of the electorate? I’m not trying to be combative I just don’t get what you mean. The job of the congress and president is to spend our taxes.
PS,
I’ve been to Tucson, and as pissed off as I am about government now (and I live in Hawaii) if I was in Tucson I would want to beat someones ass!
dsent,
Sorry I wasn’t clear, I disapprove with the way the government spend our money. I understand its their job to do so, but I don’t believe its their job to bankrupt the country and put us in massive debt. There is one thing to be wasteful with taxpayer money but to be reckless with our money as this president and the last two congresses pisses me off so much.. They are putting my and your future prosperity at risk with these insane spending policies.. I fail to see how we are going to pay for this massive spending without raising taxes and interest rates.. I hope these tea party rallies turn into a movement that puts honest people in government. I know I am going to do my part to make it happen.
I don’t see a cogent message coming from them. Yes people are unhappy about the economy and they are pissed at the way money is being spent. But stupid spending is nothing new. I get the impression from the tea bag parties that they think this is a new phenomenon or something unique to Obama. I mean Washington spent billions of our dollars to procure 10s of thousands of nuclear warheads, warheads that there was absolutely no strategic use for, they were a means to give military contractors large sums of money and we still see bloated military budgets with procurement being driven by contractor’s not strategic needs. I don’t hear the message of wasteful military spending coming out of these little parties. They seem very partisan in nature. War is a huge waste of our national resources They are not calling for and end to our wars are they? They seem like just a tool for the GOP and I’m having trouble taking the whole thing seriously.
dsent,
There might not be a cogent message as of yet… This movement is still in its infancy. I think the key message to take from these tea party protest is that the bailouts of the financial and auto industry is the straw that broke the camels back… Its easy for government to hide behind the guise of partriotism and defense of the homeland if you can spook up a few imaginary enemies from a far. I see where you are coming from on that point
when people are losing jobs and their homes and not getting a bailouts, its understandable that people are going to be pissed off. People are asking how come the government isn’t bailing them out when they see the gov’t pouring billions into companies that started this mess in the first place. Its obvious to the average american that their is a clear double standard at play here. I think the tea parties are a symbol of that grassroots rage. Will this movement turn into something meaningful is yet to be seen. I’m hopeful that it will.
Respect AZ,
I do think folks have good reason to be pissed. And I think the bailouts are indicative of a neo-fascism. The government and big business are one and the same. They get our tax dollars to bail them out because they own our politicians. I think the difference in how we see the tea bag parties is much less significant than the opinions we share about being ripped off by government and big business and the need for meaningful change in our system before it completely collapses.
I agree with you my friend.
